American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021 )
Chronology
It follows Morgan, a single mother of three, and how, thanks to her extraordinary mind, she manages to help solve a crime while rearranging evidence during her shift as a cleaner at the police station.. Despite his very high IQ, excellent memory, and deep knowledge of secrets, Morgan makes a series of basic mistakes in the law that anyone who has ever watched a TV legal show would know not to make.
Remake of HPI (2021)
In Episode One, for example, she obtains a document from a locked safe at the alleged victim’s law office that would never be admissible in court—illegally obtained evidence. It also cannot be used to obtain other evidence – a violation of the legal doctrine of the "fruit of the poisonous tree" In Episode 2, she has to be reminded to wear gloves before handling crime scene evidence, and in #3, she removes all the documented evidence from the police station, completely breaking the chain of custody and making everything she removed, too no longer admissible in court..
As most shows start out, it’s a bit tentative
First, this is not a clone of "Bones" or other cop shows dealing with people with marketable abilities when it comes to police work. The girl is good, obviously, although the manic behavior can’t continue like in the first ep.
Cops won’t use someone who’s uptight
Unlike the portrayals of lab techs and the like in other shows that show them as almost «off their meds». Second, the actor who plays Detective Karadec (Daniel Sujata) is great, he was very good in Manifesto.
As shows like this get fleshed out and characters fleshed out, they tend to get better, the flow starts to work
As for the talented Morgan, it’s hard to believe that someone with her abilities hasn’t been snapped up by a tech company or financial firm, but I guess there are people who, despite their talent, couldn’t make it work in the regular world.
