A unique profile of British pop superstar Robbie Williams. It took a year and a half to get permission to shoot a lavish dance sequence on Regent Street in London, when it was owned by the British royal family. Two nights before filming was due to start, after a week of rehearsals, Queen Elizabeth II died and filming had to be postponed. Everyone still had to pay, including shop owners and crew, and the production insurance did not cover losses caused by the monarch’s death. The producers had to raise additional funds to shoot the sequence, which was filmed five months later. The title character, Robbie Williams, is portrayed as a chimpanzee. Robbie Williams is not actually a chimpanzee.
