Series adaptation of James Patterson’s novels about the complicated and brilliant detective Alex Cross. Hodge is the third actor to portray Cross. He follows in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman, who first portrayed him in 1997’s “Kiss the Girls” and the 2001 film sequel “Along Came a Spider,” as well as Tyler Perry in the title role in 2012’s “Alex Cross” flopped at the box office and caused Lionsgate to scrap the planned sequel “Double Cross.” The Amazon series starts off with some issues. If you’ve read all the books in the Alex Cross series, you’ll have your own take on the amazing characters that come to life right away.
Alex is a good choice!
As with many film adaptations of Cross’ novels, the characters just aren’t portrayed correctly. But John Sampson should be a much bigger man. Like a tall, broad football player. This Alex is my favorite Det Cross for me.
She doesn’t pack carrots or celery
Kids do well at a younger age. But Mama Nana is too young and I see her as a slimmer woman with a BIG personality who always cooks good, hearty food! Her meals in the warm, old kitchen were so well prepared I could taste her cobbler and biscuits! Maria only has a small part and it wasn’t what I had imagined.
I hope he meets Bree Stone
The music is great and I see the friendship between him and Sampson but it’s not as strong as in the novels. I still like and fit the serial killer, one of many that Detective Cross has to bring to justice. It’s just that the plot is a bit confusing and the killer is discovered fairly quickly. I hope the show gets a second, third and fourth season so the actors can flesh out the stories from the novels.
